Chocolate Menus!

One spunky couple chose to cross two things off their to do list by having edible wedding menus. Yep, printed chocolate blocks. Their menus doubled as wedding favours, yum. This has to be one of my favourite ideas for menus. Printed menus are done to death, normal, and yep, boring!

Swap your sugared almonds and printed menus for this delicious idea!

Chocolate is just one of those things we all love. Here's a few other yummy chocolate ideas for your Wedding.

Beware, you may find yourself searching the fridge for chocolate after reading...

The chocolate buffet; the candy buffet alternative.
I've seen a few candy buffets lately, seems to be the new thing for wedding receptions. They're pretty and definitely delicious but sometimes lacking. Add in some devilishly indulgent chocolates to the mix, guarantee the ladies in the room will be licking their lips. You may be spoiling dinner with one of these so perhaps the three-course meal will be too much with one of these.
Dessert-Only Wedding Reception anyone?

If the idea of melted chocolate makes you say mmm then allow me to introduce you to the cheapest chocolate alternative. You can hire them and I've even seen them on sale at Kmart from time to time. If I wasn't lactose intolerant I'd have one of these permanently set up in my living room.
My Mum had one at her 40th and the guests were indulging in it all night. It looks gorgeous and tastes amazing. For as little as $40 (for a second hand one) you can add some sexy chocolate to your menu! Why not!

Cocolat (Rundle Street, Adelaide) was the venue for my 21st Birthday a few years back and to be honest, it was amazing. I love chocolate, dark, light, fluffy, hot, cold, I'm not fussed as long as it's chocolate. If your budget allows for handmade chocolate truffles then Cocolat is where you want to go! Place a tray of truffles on each of your tables for dessert as a cake/pavlova alternative.

Life is like a box of chocolates they say, and if chocolate is something you can't live without, why not include it in your wedding!

So never mind the hips and just think about melted chocolate on the lips! Your Wedding is your chance to be indulgent, forget the diets and dip another strawberry into the fondue fountain.

Chicken or Beef?

Your menu can be puzzling. It’s a part of your wedding you might not have really thought twice about. By the time you cross your budget with your guests dietary requirements you’re not left with much other than Chicken or Beef, boring! Don't despair there are plenty of alternatives.

McWedding Dinner
Your venue is going to play a huge part of this decision with some only offering you limited choices. Going off the beaten track with your reception venue will give you a bit of luxury in designing your menu. So, do you opt for hours d’oeuvres (finger food) or buffet, sit down meal or call for KFC? How do you choose?

Well, what do you like for dinner?

If it’s your turn to host a dinner party, what would you cook? Would you whip out your Masterchef apron and get busy whipping up some fancy pants dish nobody can pronounce? Or would you order Domino’s?
Remember this is your wedding… yes you want to “please everyone” but guests will be much more delighted with a surprising Wedding Menu option then with a Chicken or Beef decision.

One way you can get around the menu is to do what Tonya and Darryl did, they hired an their favorite restaurant for their Reception, giving their guests the choice to order whatever they like. This also saved the B&G (bride and groom) big bucks in their budget as their guests paid for their own meals.

Pizza anyone?
You might screw up your face at the thought of watching your Grandmother shoveling a Ham and Pineapple slice into her mouth come 7 pm, but surely even she likes a good ol’ slice-o-pizza. So if it’s your ideal meal, then have it. Who doesn’t love pizza anyway!

Your venue costs will include a price-per-head for your guests which will include meals, so if the menu options are limited, bloody boring and uninspiring, then find something that you love. Knock the price per head down with your venue manager and hire a caterer that will cater (pardon the pun) to your wants!

If you’re sushi lovers, hire a sushi chef! If it’s all about the Circus then serve up corn dogs, popcorn and fairy floss! Get inspired, and let me know what you want for dinner at your wedding?
